Columbus made his first landing here in the new world here on October 12, 1492. The island is only 12 miles long and 5 miles wide. It is the exposed peak of a submerged mountain plunging 15,000 feet to the sea floor. Rimed by a combination of scenic rocky shoreline and powdery white sand beaches, San Salvador is a watersport wonderland. Scuba divers are especially enthralled by the impressive drop-offs and shallow reefs where average water clarity exceeds 150 feet.
There are few resort hotels on the island, however, diving enthusiasts will find excellent facilities available.
Wonderful International cuisine is available at both Club Med and Riding
Rock Inn Resort
and Marina. You will be staying at the later. After taken part in the many
land and sea activities available to you, you can then relax at the Driftwood
Bar and meet fellow travelers from all over the world. No doubt a
good place to swap flying stories.
A half day guided tour of the island with a picnic lunch is provided.
You are encouraged to take advantage of 2 of the following activities
on each day on the island, in addition to an extensive 3-5 hour sight seeing
flight which we very much encourage, so you may really appreciate
the beauty of this wonderful part of the world.
